Are you LinkedIn?

One of the good ways to begin to market yourself as a paralegal and to build your network of connections on a professional level is to set up your profile on LinkedIn ( .    It is important to remember that your profile will be viewed by employers, co-workers, prospective employers and others interested in being part of your professional network.  Therefore, the image should be one of professionalism.

The first step is make sure that you have provided accurate information, free of typographical errors and grammatical mistakes.

Next, you should consider people that you know or with whom you have worked that you respect and consider to be professionals in their field.  You might want to consider lawyers, accountants, and others who have businesses and are involved in networking to build their businesses.

With LinkedIn, you need to be proactive.  You should spend some time each week reviewing your connections, becoming familiar with ways of adding connections and groups through the LinkedIn network.

In the current economic climate, marketing yourself is very important.  Everything about your profile should shout “I am a paralegal professional, and I take my job very seriously!”
